MEET the EXPERTS

Our practice is led by Dr. Meredith Veltri and Dr. Shannon Porter, two highly specialized and experienced forensic experts.

Shannon L. Porter, Psy.D.

Dr. Porter is a licensed psychologist in Columbus, Ohio. She completed her graduate training at The Chicago School of Professional Psychology, where she was part of the inaugural graduating class of the Clinical Forensic Psychology doctoral program. She continued her specialized training in forensic assessment during her predoctoral internship at Netcare Forensic Center. She completed a postdoctoral fellowship there, after which she accepted a full-time position conducting criminal forensic evaluations. She presently serves as the Assistant Director of Forensic and Specialized Assessment Services for Netcare Access. 

Dr. Porter performs a variety of forensic assessments and has been qualified as an expert witness in numerous courts throughout Ohio. She has experience providing education and training to law enforcement, mental health professionals, educators,  and other professionals regarding psycholegal issues. She was instrumental in creating and implementing an inpatient competency restoration program at a state psychiatric hospital, and serves as a consultant to local and federal law enforcement. She is highly trained in threat assessment, and has consulted and presented on threat assessment for school districts, mental health agencies, and federal law enforcement. She has trained regional psychiatric hospitals regarding best practices in threat assessment, and serves on workgroups for the Ohio Supreme Court’s sentencing commission and a committee implementing changes associated with Senate Bill 2, which addresses competency restoration throughout Ohio.

Meredith M. Veltri, Ph.D., ABPP

Dr. Veltri is board certified in forensic psychology by the American Board of Professional Psychology. She earned a Masters and Doctorate in Clinical Psychology with a forensic emphasis from Sam Houston State University. She completed her predoctoral training at the U.S. Medical Center for Federal Prisoners, and began her career as a psychologist for the Federal Bureau of Prisons. She is the Director of Forensic and Specialized Assessment Services for Netcare Access in Columbus, Ohio.

Dr. Veltri conducts criminal forensic assessments (including competency, criminal responsibility, risk assessments, and Intervention in Lieu of Conviction), behavioral health evaluations, pre-employment assessments, evaluations regarding immigration matters (namely, extreme hardship waivers and N-648 certifications), and provides consultation on improving forensic reports and quality assurance processes. She is a member of the American Psychology-Law Society, and has been qualified as an expert witness in Ohio and in federal court. She has testified before the Ohio General Assembly regarding legislation which she proposed and helped to develop. She conducts trainings for attorneys and fellow mental health professionals across the country, and provides consultation to federal and local law enforcement in matters related to mental health and the law. She is a member of the Association of Threat Assessment Professionals and trains school districts and mental health agencies in best practices in threat assessment, and serves on a workgroup for the Ohio Supreme Court’s sentencing commission. She has extensive training and experience in forensic assessment, and approaches each case with expertise and objectivity. 

Additionally, Dr. Veltri is approved to practice telepsychology in any state that is part of the Psychology Interjurisdictional Compact (PSYPACT; you can learn more about this here). She is telepsychology certified, having completed the Telepsychology Competencies Credential (TCC) offered by The Trust and National Register of Health Service Psychologists.
